Cable Run Question

773 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  evan1
Hey guys,

Took a look through the search results and want to make sure I came to the proper conclusion. I've built a custom made rotating in wall mount for my HD plasma. The plasma swivels between my bedroom and living room in my modest 750sq ft. space. I want to prevent future construction by running every input to the TV in a closet which is only 6-7ft away. I had an order all ready to go on monoprice, with all runs of 12ft. Do I really need to consider doing this over cat5 for such a short run? Will I have any ill effects? I will be using an IR to RF system to use an RF remote to control it all.

I like the idea of keeping a string in conduit for future pulls, but my other question is also, I plan to use one of the new Yamaha YSP systems for 5.1 sound, which makes the audio portion a pain, because now I also have to have reverse runs (from component closet to the YSP), anyone have an creative ideas here?

You have to post pictures of this. That is too cool. Very James Bond.

On the cables, no need for Cat5 for such a short run. Not sure I understand where the Yamaha will go in your plan. Rotating with the display? Where are the speakers? Consider putting the Yamaha with all the other equipment in the closet.

I will definitely be posting pictures.

The Yamaha system is an all-in-one 5.1 system designed for small spaces. It's gotten great reviews as the best alternatives for spaces like mine where speaker runs are not possible (I have 14 ft. ceilings and don't desire having cables showing).

Can't post a link, but its the Yamaha YSP 1100
