I have my pan plasma setup w/ marantz 7200 and Kef speakers. The volume seems to be different on various channels...very annoying. I've been told told that it is the way it is broadcast...I don't remember it being that way when i had a regular tv and just the box. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Its always been that way for me. Various of the cable boxes I've used had options to mangle the sound so that the differences become less obvious. I always turn those off. (Settings like compression, companding and stabilisation.)


Of course the commercials are broadcast at about +10db, that is very annoying.


PS: What are you referring to as "just the box"?

Yea, the friggin volume variances with my new cable install is the

biggest issue/annoyance. Never had these issues with Sat.

PlasmaPlasma, you should go into the HDTV hardware thread

and look up posts regarding your stb make/model to see what can

be done.
