Cabling, Reception and Recording to DVD

I have had a Mits Plat Plus HDTV ready set for 3 years but feel that DirectTV TIVO is more valuable than HD. Now that HD TIVO is on the horizon I am getting ready to take the HD plunge.

I have a few questions:

1. Cabling - My TV and Directv/Tivo cabling is on an interior wall. For OTA HD local channels will another cable need to be run from an antenna or is the existing cable sufficient ?

2. Is reception for OTA an all or nothing proposition or does mediocre reception result in a mediocre picture. I certainly don't want to see a fuzzy picture in High Definition.

3. I haven't seen any discussion about HD being recorded to DVD. I currently archive some movies, etc from my TIVO to DVD and am wondering if HD programming can be recorded to DVD and if so will it have DVD quality resolution ?

I was also wondering, if Antennaweb shows the primary stations in yellow, dark green and one red, will I be likely to have success with an attic antenna ?
