Hi,

Newby here. I bought the 65xbr2 a few months ago. Plugged it in and everything looks fine. Been search and reading the threads here but can't seem to find the answer.

Do I need to calibrate it? If so, how do I do that?

Also, I have Reef tank that sits about 4 feet way from the front side of my TV. The lights are pretty damn bright. Would that light screw up my TV (burn-ins)?

For directv, do you use Full or widemode?

External lights won't affect the CRTs, which are what can 'burn in.' The screen that is projected upon does not burn in, so light falling on the screen is not a problem.

go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sonyhs10/messages you will find what you need in the files section. This is a rear projection with CRT's, they have to be tweaked and re-tweaked, but once you get it right, not much out there can beat it. My sony, looked ok out of the box also, but after you calibrate it you will see a big difference. It has to be done or else youre driving a corvette on 6 cylinders..

XBR 2 has nice geometry and convergence service menu, but not on the user side.

As set from sony, flash focus is useless....with tweaking...it would be so much sharper picture.

ALso, there is a really easy red push tweak with the axis tweak for that set.

Greyscale should come out great, with better colors too.....

I would go for it
