I have the Avia 2 calibration dvd. I am kinda confused on "contrast",picture" and "brightness" settings. On the dvd there are the 4 square boxes and the 2 bars. Ok, for the brightness I adjust the left bar until it is barely seen.

is that right or am I to use that on the boxes?

Man, I am as confused as a bull in a china shop.

Everyones help will be appreciated very much.

Did you listen to the directions and read the calibration FAQ?


For black level, you adjust it lower until the below-black just disappears, but the two above-black bars remain visible.


What you do with white depends on what kind of TV you have, which is information you did not provide.

I have a Sony 46" XBR9.

I listen to the instructions verywell, but sometimes there is still a bit of

confusion for the newbie....

then for that, you set the white level as high as possible below the point of colorshifting or clipping. Adjust the backlight setting to an appropriate viewing level afterwards.
