Which setup disc is best? I notice that Avia is more than twice as expensive as Sound & Vision Home Theater Tuneup. Video Essentials is inbetween these two.

I know some people have stated that the S&V is fine. I'm wondering what the differences are (and why Avia and Video Essentials are so much more $$$)

I wasted money buying the Discwasher Home theater setup (salesman pushed it on me.. i assumed they were all the same). It was definitely geared toward CRTs as alot the tests had nothing to do with dlps/lcds.

There are lots of posts that discuss this question and here is a link to two:

S&V is reported to have audio 6.1 & 7.1 while AVIA only has 5.1. On the other hand AVIA has the test patterns to adjust geometry including overscan. And, it has the color filters and test patterns to perform a color decoder test and clear up common problems like red push.

I think either one will be fine to adjust the "big five" (contrast/picture/whites & brightness/blacks & sharpness & color & tint/hue). If you only need the big 5 and audio then S&V will probably be fine. I used AVIA to also adjust geometry and red push so S&V would not have been adequate for me. Anyway, that is my $.02 worth. Hope it helps and good luck. :)
