Update:
If anyone stumbles upon this thread in the future, this is a good thread to read:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1449909/whats-your-subwoofer-level-relative-to-reference-level
It seem's I was looking in the wrong place for the problem.
So I have a Dayton SUB-1200, and in all honesty I'm pretty darn impressed with it.
Good output, no port noise or any weird noises at all, just good room shaking effects.
However, I'm wondering if the following is normal:
I have a Denon X4000, and during sub calibration I gained matched it using the mic with xover set to max and Audyssey sets the sub to -6.0, and at that point the sub has hardly any output.
I have to turn up the gain on the sub from about 48% to 70% to get any couch/room shaking effects.
Anyone else have the same experience with theirs?
I mean I paid around $112 for it shipped, so I'm not complaining about it at all, infact I'm probably going to pick up a second one at some point - but I'm just wondering if it's normal to have set the gain that high after calibration? I just upgraded from a Denon 1612 and I had to do the same thing with that receiver as well.
It's connected to my receiver with a Mediabridge cable with Y splitter at the sub.
