Calling all Samsung HP-T5064 Owners - UNITE!!! (50" Plasma TV) No Price Talk!!!

Well I am new to the board...First Post. I have read a ton on here in the last couple of weeks and have enjoyed the info tremendously.

I am a new Samsung HP-T5064 Owner...about 40-50 hours in using Zippy's breakin settings. I have it connected to a Bell 6100 HD receiver via HDMI (tv) to DVI (satellite box).

I thought I would start this thread because the other Sumasung threads are just huge...and a lot of people have different versions of this TV (Samsung xx34, xx44, xx54). This thread is just for us 5064 owners!

I thought it would be cool to identify ourselves so we can help one other out to get the most out of our TV's. Everyone has different tweaks, settings, combos and such...and all info would be apprecitated to help out the 5064 community.

Myself, I have the lastest firmware update installed (I bought this TV in Canada):

I haven't seemed to have any flicker problems like some others have reported with 1011 boards.

Anyway, if you own this specific HP-T5064 TV, please feel free to share your thoughts, reviews, settings, connections and experience with all of us fellow owners! Thanks a bunch...

Nothing......... can't beleive there's no love for the Samsung 5064! I was hoping to hear lots on this thread since I'm debating between this Sammy and the Pioneer 5080. Is the extra cost on the 5080 worth it or stay with the Sammy 5064 and save the money - anyone, any comment?

I love the 5064. I don't own one however. I have last year's 4273, a wonderful plasma.

The 5064 has a better picture than the 5080 and I would never consider trading it in.

To my eyes(at BB & CC) the sammy 5064 looks better than the Pioneer 5080 even though on dark scene I admit the pioneer looks a little better but overall I have to say sammy is better looking TV. Dam$#@ I missed the sale at Amazon few weeks back!
I love mine, and I will like it more once the flicker is gone.

I'm hoping Amazon will drop the price back to 1317 after the SUperBowl, I'll be buying one for sure!

check everyday at least 5 times per day amazon is like the stock market when it comes to pricing good luck
BB and CC don't sell the 64 series...they sell the 54 series. I call the 54 series "smiley" because of the silver curved accent on the front. The 64 series is all piano gloss black. The Samsung 64 series is a great value, but the Kuro 5080 is simply the best.
I've been wondering how this TV stacks up against the 5084 and the Kuro, but unfortunately it's not available in any store near me. I'm assuming the picture is identical in every way to the 54?

Can anyone tell me how the 64 handles dark scenes? Any false contouring, noise, etc? I have an older Sammy plasma (4252) and it drives me nuts with this.
For the great TV that it is, it's very surprising to see that not alot of people seem to own it. I think that most own the 54 series.

Anyway, if anyone out there actually owns this TV and has some settings they would like to share...or anything else for that matter, would love to hear it.

So far, so good for me! Only about 50 hours though... can't wait to crank up the settings a bit more from Zippy's breakin settings.

I haven't seen a 4252 but I believe it's safe to say the 64 is superior. It's at least 2 generations newer than your current plasma.

Can always count on a kuro zombie to show on every thread repeating the same delusional statements.
I am the very happy owner of a 5064, which as of today is also flicker-free (see my post on page 239 in the other thread). This television is simply stunning.

I was also shopping right before Christmas and narrowed my choices to the 5064, the Pioneer 5080, and the Panasonic 77U. I was originally going to purchase the 77U sight unseen due to all the great reviews until I started reading about the other two sets.

Long story short, I decided to take my kids with me to see the sets in person. We stopped in a local PC Richards store and much to our delight, they had all 3 right next to each other with viewing seats all set up! We spent way too much time looking at these sets, but the bottom line was that the Samsung blew the Panasonic away and looked just as good as the Pioneer - as far as overall picture quality. And my teenage imac/ipod kids both thought the set itself just looked "way cooler". In every store we saw them, including CC & BB, the Samsung stood out. And this was the 5054 model we were comparing.

Right now the prices are $1514-Samsung, $1655-Panasonic, $2,088-Pioneer

We bought the 5064 from Amazon for a great price and got a free Logitech Harmony remote thrown in, which is amazing in itself. I then took the money I saved by purchasing the Samsung, and immediately purchased the best rated Home Theater in a Box system in this or any other forum/magazine - the Onkyo SP908. Right now, between the Samsung and the Pioneer, there is a $574 difference - If you really want to be blown away, take that money, add $150 and purchase the Onkyo. You'll have what we now have - an absolutely incredible complete home theater setup for little more thant the price of the Pioneer alone.

Hey...good to see a fellow 5064 owner, hopefully more will come to join this thread. What connections are you using? Have you passed the break-in time of 100 plus hours, and if so, what settings are you using to get the best picture possible?

No doubt about that. I had a chance to view the 5084 and 5054 side by side...for the life of me, I could not see any difference.
I just bought one today... where can i find Zippy's break-in settings?
I just picked up the 5064 from Frys's for 1580. Was amazons price at 1300 w/ free shipping?

Either way I love the set so far, still trying to get everything tweaked.
