I'm anxious to see the full specs on this.

It looks like the Arcam AVR600 is way out of my price range, so this unit may be a nice alternative. SQ is priority for me so I hope this one measures up...will have to wait for some reviews.

I am a current 640r owner and I absolutely love it. It compliments my B&W speakers quite nicely for both music and HT. I am really excited to hear about the v2 because in my opinion, the ONLY things that the v1 was lacking have been added to the v2. Here is a preliminary report from Cinenow:

Cambridge Audio have announced that they will be launching a brand new version of the award-winning Azur 640R.

Cambridge Audio will introduce a Version 2 model in early 2009 featuring full HDMI 1.3b reception. By using the latest Cirrus Logic / Crystal chipset with twin 32-bit DSPs, Cambridge Audio has enabled full support for Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution and the superb new Lossless Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats. The 640R V2 can also transcode analogue video to HDMI for simplicity and flexibility, requiring just one cable to the TV screen.

The 640R V2 features Cambridge Audio Mic Controlled Auto Set-up (CAMCAS) for extremely quick and easy room installation and LipSync audio delay means the user can simply adjust for processing delays in the source or TV.

The unit will runs at 7 x 100 watts and in stereo mode the unit outputs 120 watts. All the current formats are supported, LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, DTS ES Matrix and Discrete, DTS 96/24, Neo:6, ProLogic II, ProLogic IIx, in 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1.

Multi-room compatibility is featured for connection to Cambridge Audio’s Incognito system or other custom install applications. Twin Incognito outputs offer plug and play compatibility with Cambridge Audio Incognito keypads or active speakers. This provides connection with up to two additional rooms, with fully independent source control.

Unfortunately, it has not been released yet, and I have not heard anything about a possible date or any detailed specs/info aside from their initial press releases. If anything comes my way, I'll be sure to post it here.

I believe the $1,000 refers to the Blu Ray player. I'd be surprised if CA puts a $1k price tag on this receiver.
