Yes, it can. For instance, in my case if I am viewing any 480i output via S-Video to my Tosh TW40X81, then I can use any of the Toshiba's built-in stretch modes. Most of the time however, I just always leave my Tosh in 1080i HDTV mode (HD1 input) and have my E* 6000 send all output to the TV as 1080i upconverted. In that case I am dependent on the stretch modes in the E* 6000 STB since the TV just displays what it gets at 1080i. Make sense?
