as the title suggests, if i use BD-RD to make a blu-ray movie fit onto a dvd dl disc will it play in normal dvd players but in blu ray quality or is it written in blu-ray format and only play on a blu-ray player?

Also, what is the real picture quality? i cant under stand that a blu-ray movie and 1 audio track that is 26gb can fit onto a 9gb disc and be the same quality? at what point would you notice the quality getting worst?

Normal DVD players are limited to 720x480, they can't handle HD material

They can't be the same quality if it is nearly a quarter of the size. It all depends on what quality is acceptable by you. One common trick after removing all of the extras, is to resample the video at 720p rather 1080p (which reduces the number of pixels by nearly 60%)

No, it will not play in a standard DVD player. The BR structure is completely different than the DVD structure not to mention the codec used.

Quality questions are always subjective but while the quality of a reduced BR title from 26gb to 9gb may not look exactly the same, it comes very close to the original. Some people go as far to say that it is looks virtually the same on TV sizes less than 50". It is definately a heck of a lot better than SD DVDs.
