I am researching a way to make a DVD sampler with short clips for demonstration purposes. I understand that with a DVD burner this can be done with a little work. I would like to retain the 5.1 audio. My question is 1) How much if any quality is lost in the ripping/editing/burning process, and 2) will a standard DVD ( or maybe HTPC) read the tracks from a CDR. I realize the capacity of a CDR would be very limited, but I'm talking 10-20 minutes of play time max. I don't own a DVDR drive yet, and hesitate to purchase one till I experiment with the software.
