Can A HTPC Increase Screen Brightness on a LCD Front Projector?

Can a HTPC increase screen brightness on a front projector over what is developed from a RCA DTC-100 satellite reciever? I have a Sony VPL-VW10HT and Grayhawk screen and this is an issue.

Thank you

I'm suprised you have an issue with brightness with the 10HT projector. It must be the grayhawk. Bummer, such a great screen, I guess we need 2000 lumen projectors :)

The HTPC coupled with a Radeon card can increase picture brightness, or the appearance of, but only for DVD. Also, you must use the ATI DVD player for this to work. The ATI DVD player, coupled with a Radeon, allows gamma adjustment that really boost the picture. I've found this indespensible with my Davis DLS8 800 lumen projector. Unlike contrast or brightness increases, the gamma boost the brightness of the entire picture. I'm not up on the tech aspects of this, but I believe it has something to do with boosting the gray in the color information which gives the appearance of an overall brighter image. There are some posts on this topic, just search for gamma and gray. Hopefully that will not bring up too many threads.
