Just the PS3 video with different music, or the PS3 video and PS3 sound plus other music?

A multi-zone receiver is the solution. It's just in your case you'll be overlapping the zones in the same area. You'll still need separate sources, separate speakers, etc., but what you want can be done.

As for playing two sources through the same set of speakers, that can't be done, at least not without a mixer being involved.

You'd need to plug both audio sources into a mixer, and then the mixer's output into your AVR. You could then control the volume level of each source independently.
