at the end of each night if i hit the power button on my remote, the htpc goes to sleep, it will stay asleep until it has to wake to do something like optimize or record something.

The problem is it wont go back to sleep by itself, even though it is set to after so many minutes of inactivity. every night i turn on the tv and its running the screen saver, even though the htpc isnt doing anything like recording.

i notice over the weekend that once it wakes up it stays awake all day.

im running win7 rc, and i had the same problem with vista.

Probably because you have a USB device attached that is keeping the computer awake. A USB or wireless mouse/keyboard are likely offenders. Assuming XP, go to device manager, select the device, and in the properties menu look for a power management tab. Enable "allow windows to turn off this device to save power. What devices are attached by USB?

It will let you easily see which device might be causing trouble, and easily keep it from doing it again. Also lots of other power related options.

very nice program, i think i have it setup, lets see what the htpc is doing tomorrow... hopefully still sleeping.
