Can D-VHS be scaled to 1080p?

428 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Ted White
Just curious if I can take a signal from a JVC 3000 and run it through my PC to scale to 1080P. This would be for D-Theater tapes.

THanks for any help!

Nope. You can scale non D-Theater via firewire. You'd have to do D-Theater as an analogue input, which no one currently makes, afaik. I've been keeping my eye on this but nothing has popped up yet.

Thank you Wes! I'll keep looking for a solution also.

I assume that you couldn't use another type of processor either then? Such as an HD Leeza or Faroudja.

I'm unclear as to what you mean by inputs.. Inputs to the JVC or to the computer card?

Ted,

You can scale non copy-protected DVHS tapes (tapes you make, or HD-net tapes) via HTPC. As Wes said, D-Theater tapes and other copy protected tapes cannot be scaled by HTPC as the vcr will not send the data over firewire to the PC in those cases.

HD Leeza or Faroudja will work, as they do have HD analog inputs.

Thanks for that clarification.
