My recever doesnt have HDMI in but it will decode 5.1 and DTS. How can i split the HDMI signal from my cable box so i get the good video but use the coax audio to my older receiver?


My tv doesnt decode or pass threw the signal so wheni come in to the tv using HDMI and then out to my tv i lose the 3.2/1 signal.


I want the good video but i also want the regular 5.1 coax signal.


My stuff is vizio VO32LF, H/K AVR35 receiver.


Do they make an HDMI cable that splits the audio?

Obviously a cable can't split the audio out because it's a totally different thing than S/PDIF.


There are a few boxes that supposedly can output SPDIF with HDMI in.

Does your cable box have a coax or optical digital output? I would think most cable boxes can output audio simultaneously on both hdmi and coax/optical outputs

Hdmi from cable box to display. Either Spdif/Toslink or coax to receiver. Good to go.
