hello

what would happen if i connect receiver speakers , to PC sound card, straight in, not using amp or any thing.

Ahhh Danielson, I have done this... this is not good...


Ok, sound cards claim to be 3 Watt amps, so you'd think:

1 Watt gives me 88db's, so putting the volume at half way

should be pretty loud!! Right?


Truth is, at first it sounded OK, but if you turn up the volume

more than half way, it's distortion city.


Secondly, again, as I have first hand experience, your soundcard

is going to be under TREMENDOUS stress, and it won't be

long until it starts making EVERY speaker sound scratchy and distorted,

even with headphones.
