Can I turn a VGA cable into RGBHV?

396 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  jayluft
I have a 25 foot run of high quality (not great, mind you, but high quality) VGA (15 pin, each end) cable running from my media closet to my projector. I just have added some equipment that now gives me RGBHV at both ends of my run. Instead of having a breakout cable at each end, can splice off the 15 pin connector and wire make RGBHV out of both ends?

If so, specifics would be wonderful. :D

You just need to wire up the same wires to each end - "VGA" is RGBHV, with some extra signals used for monitors. I wouldn't worry about trying to match the pinout of the connectors, just that all your wires match on both ends!
You would need to find the correct RCA or BNC connector for the mini-coax used in the VGA cable.
PanamaMike, thank you. That's what I was looking for.
