I recently purchased an Yamaha RXV773 receiver and was wondering what I should do with my old receiver - HTR6060. Do you think I can use it as an external amp for my Energy RC70 speaker? Do you think it will make any of a difference?

No difference, rather you would be better served using it to power Zone 2 speakers using the Zone 2 pre-outs if you want to go 7.1 in the main zone.

silly queston - - what is zone 2 used for? putting speakers in a different area? or can it be used to make use of presence speakers and make a 9.1 setup?
