The thread that talks to CPU requirements does not really address non-core 2 duo CPU's so I wanted to ask the experts if my HTPC can cut the mustard. Here are my current specs:


Intel P4 660 3.6Mhz with 2MB L2 Cache (1 year ago this was the big boy)

1 GB (2-512 sticks) Corsair Extreme 400MHz 3200 Heat sink memory


I can overclock the CPU to well over 4Mhz if needed but up till now I have not overclocked at all.


So if I replace my EVGA 7800GT with a HDCP compliant video card will this box do it or not.

Your rig should easily handly HD DVD....


Are you looking to add the Xbox 360 HD DVD?

VC1 discs should be OK, but I don't think you'll be able to play AVC ones.

Thanks makes me feel better, yes I just got the XBOX drive a few weeks ago. It's running fine on the 360 now but with HD-DVD rips looking possible and the fact that I have a 5TB NAS it's looking like the final home for the 360 drive is the PC not the XBOX.
