As thread title states I just need to know if the panasonic vt25 series plays video files off a flash drive or external hard drive through its usb port thanks.

It depends on what country you're in. The North American version of the VT25 definitely does not have this ability. But i think the European and Asian versions can do this. The North American version is very very different than the ones on other continents.

thanks for the input. So what are the USB ports meant to be used for? IO devices?

If you have a PS3 you can easily link an external harddrive to it and play videos through that.

No I do not. Currently my method is to use the laptop and use the tv as a 2nd monitor. This is cumbersome and time consuming. I want a simpler method for my next entertainment setup (hopefully the Panny Vt-25 or 30). With the T.V. being crossed-out, most likely the blueray being crossed out I'm running out of options of what to use.

I know I can find dvd players that play video files (mkv, avi) through usb but I don't like the idea of buying a player for the sole purpose of using it's usb port.
