Considering LCD RP purchase (either GWIII or maybe Hitachi). Placement would be elevated (above fireplace) but would be well ventelated.

Placement would require set be tilted downward about 10-15 degrees to enhance viewing area.

Does tilting an LCD RP forward present any problems?

Local specialty TV store didn't indicate any problems but noticed in another thread that salesman at Great Indoor store blamed dark spots at bottom of Hitachi on display on unit having been tilted forward during delivery. Made me start worrying about whether the LCD RPs are an option for me.

I am on the fence between a 34, 36, or 40" direct view or the Sony GWIII 42 or 50" or Hitachi 50". 50" really doesn't fit, modifications would be required.

Thanks for continued help!!!

Inside the TV is an LCD projector. Most of those can be tilted 10-15 degrees without any problem. My projector allows for a tilt of that magnitude in its manual. Some projectors allow more aggressive tilting.

Now, as for the GW, I don't know. I would bet that a 10-15 degree tilt would do no harm at all. But I would ask Sony to be sure.
