My wife is going to leave me soon if I dont just make up my mind. LOL

Looked ath the marantz 7400, denon 2805, yamaha 1500 and the pioneer elite 54 series.

I actually like them all, I guess my ears arent that sophisticated.

Mainly for HT use. Only running 5.1 paradigm speakers.

Can anyone help me narrow it down? Any pro's/con's I should know about.

As far as price, only about $150 separates all three. (marantz highest, yamaha lowest)

Thanks!

The yamaha rxv 1500 and the htrb 5890 is the same unit and they are very good choices and you might be able to get the 5890 at a better price then the 1400. Lou

I didn't care for the 985 (same as 2805). The autoEQ didn't seem to improve the sound much. Had a "blah" sound overall, compared to the HK I kept. Supposedly, the 3805 is a significant step above the 2805 in SQ. I'd probably go with the Pio 54 over the 2805 (advanced MCACC, meets THX specs, plenty of power), if for around the same price.

I think the Yamaha auto equalization works quite well... I don't know about any of the others since I don't own them..... I love the Yamaha 7 channel stereo mode.... Use that now for listening to all my cd's...
