I'm looking for HDMI inputs that will pass 1080p signals and audio over the HDMI connection...

i've heard of some units that pass the 1080p video but won't do the audio... i want to avoid that...

i will be hooking up a PS3, and an HD cable box via HDMI... no other components at this time, but that could change later on, so HDMI expandability would be nice...

I appreciate any help you can provide...

I'm looking for keep the budget at or around $1000... will go more for the piece that does exactly what i need...

i was a member here before, but must have lost my ID...

are you guys telling me, the Denon could take a 480p signal and upconvert it to display at 1080p...?

or am i reading into this wrong...?

HDMI upconversion simply means that signal received via composite/s-video/component video connections will be output to TV through HDMI out connection. This will need only one cable between receiver and TV/projector. HDMI upconversion does not change picture resolution and signals are output from HDMI out at the resolution they were input into the receiver.

There are receivers, which can upscale low resolution video signals to higher resolution like 720p/1080i etc. These type of receivers are not cheap and closet to your price range is Pioneer Elite vsx-82txs. Others with this feature are Pioneer Elite vsx-84txsi, Yamaha rx-v2700, Denon AVR-4306 (and higher model).
