Can the new 50" Fujitsu's stretch a 4:3 HD signal?

Hopefully, we won't have to deal with 4:3 commercials/content on HD channels for much longer, but I can't see to find it in the PDF copies of the manual. Any "40/51" series owners out there who can answer this for me?

The networks are sending a 16:9 signal, even when the program material is 4:3. The black bars are part of the broadcast. I think a very few expensive outboard scalers can manipulate HD broadcasts, but I don't think any plasma can stretch a 16:9 broadcast.

I'm not sure about the Fujitsu's but My Pioneer Elite 1130 can stretch and remove the black bars on 4:3 material from a 16:9 broadcast.
