I am in the market for a new display and have it narrowed down to the Panasonic 65" VT or ST, and unfortunately price is going to most likely drive the final decision.

Does anyone out there know the typical schedule Panasonic uses for price changes? I am thinking with the holidays fast approaching we may have a drop coming. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Prices just dropped a bit a few days ago. I woudn't count on any substantial price drops from them anymore as production is starting to wind down. It's possible that retailers might start clearancing the remaining inventory but prices are already so low compared to previous years i don't see a lot of room to drop much further.

Unlike previous years, this year they're going to have very slim inventory levels and we've been advised to buy before November if we want to be sure to aquire a 2013 model. And for the first time in history, every single 2013 Plasma listed on Panasonic's website says "Only a few left in Stock. Buy Now".

I think its foolish to wait

Yeah you might be able to save $100 if you wait a couple of months... or you can spend that money now, enjoy the TV and not risk having the TV be out of stock... not really worth the anxiety.

I put a deposit down on a 60ZT60 at Best Buy last Thursday, at $2,999. Salesmen wanted to work with me, but stated that there was absolutely nothing they could do to price match any other vendor with the ZT series. They were willing to work below my EPP on a 55VT60 of $1,749 however, with the Best Buy list price at $1,999, and seemed eager to move them. Cut to yesterday's listing of a "Magnolia Sale", and the 60ZT60 was selling for $2,699, and the 55VT60 for $1,799.

Wound up just getting the 60ZT60 since I wanted to see if any issues arose, in case I have to exchange it before the holidays, and inventory starts drying up.

I doubt it. at least not any more than normal this time of year.

if Panasonic is losing money, they aren't likely to offer any rebates/price breaks at this point. and i'm sure the demand is growing as ppl scramble to get a plasma 'before its too late'. so the only price reductions will be the usual stuff done at the retail level to make room for new inventory.

MAYBE, if Panasonic is planning on coming strong into the LED market they might give retailers some price cuts to encourage them to restock with new LED's

Off topic just a bit here but what about Samsung have they said anything about ending plasma production?

No. But they usually keep their company info pretty close to the vest.

The ZT60 has actually reached its lowest price in the last several days. That being said, I would be surprised if it can be found for under $3k (65") after it's all said and done.

There are always price drops, so it won't be any different just because they're going out of business.... unless people rush and buy them before they drop prices.

Yeah... Don't listen to this guy. These TVs are going or of stock across the Country, all the local stores around me are already or of stock.

Eh, if he doesn't listen to me, that makes no sense, since I said the same thing... that if people DO buy them all up, they can't go on sale, but otherwise if they're still around they will get cheap. ALWAYS prices drop on down in November, through January for any stock still around.

That makes sense if there is ample supply and low demsnd. But these are the last PPanasonic plasmas that will ever be made. Don't wait buy ASAP.
