MCAAC experts,

there is a user who just bought a VSX-1018 , see post below.

Bottom line, his previous Denon amp sounded fine, this Pioneer is too bright . What tuning, tweaks or adjustments can be made using MCAAC that you will recommend to tame it....otherwise, he "defects" to ....the other side.

what are some "basics" that he can try.

We are assuming he does not have windows, or hard surfaces that are affecting his sound. Blake....Based solely on your previous experience with your Denon...right blake ? Are there any changes you have made to your overall system or did you just do a straight swap of Denon to Pioneer......this may be a job for.....batpig !!!

(if you havent visited Denon threads, you wont get this) : )

From the audio side of things, the first thing most folks check are room acoustics...but , if his Denon was just swapped, lets assume this is not the case.

Next possibility is that there may be "noise" due to dirty power supplied to the receiver. My guess is that his old Denon does a better job at filtering out crud than the Pioneer.

Could be digital noise, radio frequency noise, could also be from PC's on the same circuit, etc.

You could spend hundreds on trying to improve your power, you may want to give the Denon a look.

That is, of course , unless the MCAAC pro's can help you tame your system.
