Can you use HTPC on a PJ that supports only 16Hz Horizontal scan rate? I just bought a bargain CRT projector, but it only does 16Hz Horizontal/60Hz Vertical. I'd really like to use HTPC with it if at all possible.. Am I out of luck?
Yes, I meant 16kHz. What are the limitations on a VGA (480i) setup? Can I still run WinDVD or any other software players... or Can I use a hardware based DVD decoder card with it? Sorry for the newbie questions, I just dont want to buy stuff and then find out that I cant use it......
Sorry I misspoke before - you cannot do VGA on this projector, only NTSC/480i. Whether using hardware or software based DVD player, the chief limitation is being stuck doing 480 interlaced - your video controller must either have an NTSC output (composite or S-Video connector), or it must be able to drive its VGA port at the 480i rate which is half the VGA rate. Thus, you don't get the big feature using an HTPC DVD setup, which is progressively scanned video at 31.5 kHz.
