Cannot get DTS

336 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  TheBrood
Hello,

It's my first post so I will try to be as clear as possible.

I recently purchased a Sony based sound system with an STR-DE575 amp. I have a Panasonic RV-31 DVD player plugged in through the optical in on the amp.

My problem is...they both support DTS; however, I am only able to get Dolby Digital to work.

I don't see any reason why DTS should be any different.

Can someone help me. I was watching Gladiator if you were wondering. I also chose the DTS option from the Audio menu. Just silence.

Thank you,

Jeff

When you first put in the DVD go to the DVD menu. Under languages it should ask you if you want to watch the movie in Dolby digital or DTS, press the DTS and see if that will now work.

Also make sure your player is enabled for DTS. My Panasonic came with DTS off by default (so it doesn't kill the speakers hooked up to non-DTS receivers).
Thank you so much. That's exactly what it was. I really have to start reading these manuals.

Thanks again.
