If I can't talk about dvd copying software and where to get it where can I find what I am looking for? Please let me know.

Even copy protected dvds??? Is there something out there that is better that I can even buy? It says dvd shrink takes a dual layer and compresses to a single disk. I am getting a dual layer dvd burner so is there something that won't compress it down and compromise the quality of the video?

Yes, even those (hopefully you're planning to make backups of DVDs you actually own here).


Also, Shrink won't burn unless you have Nero installed.

I went to shrink and it said as long as you had a dvd program of some sort it would work.

You can use any burning s/w but if you want to use the method set forth by bfdtv (above), then I believe you'll need to have Nero installed.

In that case, I don't see why you'd even need DVD Shrink as the general purpose of that s/w is to compress the likes of DVD-9s to fit on DVD-5s.


It seems to me that all you would need is Decrypter (ISO--->READ to rip and then ISO--->WRITE to burn). Not that this guarantees everything will work properly.....the layer-break, in particular.

Where can you find a dvd for $10? LOR extended = $10 yeah right. Maybe some cheap stuff but most I see even at discounted places are 17 on up. Let me know where you buy yours.

You can talk about DVD copying software if you want to make copies as a backup of your own original DVDs for your personal use only but not for iligal distribution and/or for profit purposes.

All I want to do is make several copies of each and keep them in my vehicles or take them on my travels instead of paying 10bucks here and 10bucks there for each copy. Even if they were 10bucks if I buy a couple of each and I say I want 20 thats a lot of money. But I guess I'm cheap.

It's only going to be an exact duplicate if you're using a DVD9 disc to back it up or it's on a DVD5 disc. Otherwise some compression is needed or something needs to be stripped out. Just clarifying it for people who have never used software like shrink.

I live in the dog gone sticks. Closest best buy and circuit city is 245 miles. Do they sell used over the internet?

Yes toto- And I'm sure they even ship to Kansas. Well, Maybe?? A lot of used dvd retailers out there. Amazon, Overstock.com, and of course auctions.

I never buy at retail, not worth it.
