Hi all,


I've recently ordered some Korean DVDs that require that I alter my 4:3 setting to 16:9 so that the picture won't look vertically stretched. When I tried this last night, I found that my player would flash the "function cannot be performed" icon when I attempted to scroll past the 4:3 setting. The 4:3 P&S and 16:9 options were visible in the drop-down menu but weren't accessible. I own a Pioneer DV-333 and a GE 27" 4:3 TV (oh yeah, baby, I'm livin' large). Has anyone come across anything similar to this? Am I just missing the part of the manual that explains what to do to access the other display options?

You may have to try this without a disc in the player.

That's strange, the 16:9 choice being unavailable too. If the picture is vertically stretched, that means the player is outputting in native (unaltered) mode which is the 16:9 mode.


The 4:3 letterbox mode alters (downconverts) the picture so it is not vertically stretched on a 4:3 TV.


What happens if you reselect the only mode showing, 4:3 letterbox?
