Hello there...

If you are using DVI between a source device and a DVI switcher or monitor, what are the supported resolutions that can be carried natively within the DVI standard???

480i? 480p? 540p? 576p? 1080i? 720p? 768p? 1080p?

Any of the above? All of the above?

Thanx for any input!!!

There are actually several different signal standards that DVI can transmit.

VESA (standard computer display modes) and EIA-861 (Standard HDTV modes) are two of them. All of the above resolutions you mentioned would be supported under one or the other of these standards. Your display device will determine which you can use though. Dispay devices with an HDCP-DVI input will generally only work with the Standard HDTV modes as in the EIA-861 standard. This would include 480p, 720p and 1080i, and variations on these which still preserve their timings such as 540p, or a 768p or 960p resolution within a 1080i timing, for example. Make sense?
