I am capturing an HD stream using CapDVHS from my motorola DCH3416. I can play the captured file from a thumb drive on my PS3 with perfect results. But when I try to play it using Windows Media player or try to open the file using Pinnacle 12 Ultimate the file isn't recognized. What am I missing? Seems like if the PS3 will play the file I should be able to open and edit/render it to ACVHD.

This should have been posted in the HDTV Recorders forum. Click here .

You are most likely capturing a MPEG-2 HP file. AFAIK, Windows Media player will not play, can not speak for Pinnacle 12. The VLC player will most likely play your files, info here .

To edit checkout VideoReDo, info here . You can try before you buy.

Thanks!! VideoRdDo worked, but after hours of searching and reading in the forums I can't seem to figure out why. Isn't the Mpeg file I get from the CapDVHS an Mpeg Stream already? Why when I simply load it into VideoReDo and save it as another Mpeg Steam file does in now work in Mediaplayer and Ultimate 12? It's still high def and still works perfectly in the PS3. In fact the video is absolutely awesome on my 65" Mitsu Diamond. As a NOOB can you point me to an existing thread if the explanation is too lengthy?
