YES! Thanks for the update. Was wondering when they were gonna give us this. Considering how quick some other HD-DVD titles showed on BR, was expecting this title to hit earlier...but wahtever, better late than never! I HAD the HD-DVD, thought it looked really good.

This one is a top fiver 'gangsta' type flick for me personally (Godfather I & II, Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, Carlito's Way, luv 'em all), glad its officially coming!

This is a great movie, but I bought it on DVD about five years ago and have yet to put it in my player (though I catch it on AMC whenever it's on).

Unless I can sell my DVD (which my friend haven't seem to have heard of the movie), I can't say I'll be picking this up.

Btw...i'm STILL pissed that the teaser trailer has never been officially released: slow pull away from a still of Pacino's sunglasses with audio from The Godfather, Serpico, Dog Day and others to footage from the film. They probably don't want to pay for the rights to the audio.

I do like the trailer with Born on the 4th of July theme in it.

I think that is included but I'm not sure.

Speaking of which, I don't think I will ever see one of my favorite trailers, Born on the Fourth of July.

I remember it playing "For What It's Worth" during it and it has never been included in any release.

Got mine today. Anything in particular you want me to look out for?

I'll go chuck it in the player and give some initial impressions shortly...

Initial impressions:

Starts off like a typical early 90s film with some very minor print damage evident, not the deepest blacks, and a solid but not spectacular *slightly* soft transfer.

It definitely improves as the film goes on, with some nice surround sound for the music during the many moments inside Carlito's club, and the PQ seems to get better too.

I noticed some bad (for Blu-ray anyway) visual decoding at the start of chapter 7, as Sean Penn's character is walking towards the prison barge and the shot starts off as a long shot, then slowly dollies in and back out again past a very long chain link fence - it's the same effect when someone is wearing a stripey shirt or the camera pans past a cross-hatch material and you get this dodgy banding effect, I'm sorry, I don't know the proper term for it.

If I had to rate the disc, I'd say:

Film: 8/10

Video: 6.5/10

Sound: 7/10

Extras: 3/10
