I'm planning to install an IR repeater/blaster (Niles, Xantech, etc.). I have some Cat-3/four-wire telephone cable laying around. Can I use that or do I need Cat-5 for some reason or another.

Not trying to be cheap, just figured I could use this up on this. But don't want to do it if it means I'll be repulling later.

That should be fine, it's simply sending a low voltage signal thru it. Should work now and in the future, not a problem.

Thanks - and the signal doesn't require the higher tolerances of Cat-5, right? It's not like high-speed data.

Right, just short low volt bursts. You'll be fine.
