Hey everyone,

I am having an issue running my directv which is upstairs to my projector screen which is in the basement. Originally I tried running a 50 ft hdmi cable, but it did not cary a signal over that length. Since then I bought cat 6 to hdmi extender and ran two cat 6 cables only to get a choppy sound. The picture is good but the sounds chops out every five seconds or so. Does anyone have any reccommendations to go from here? Thanks a lot.

Try a 'Redmere' active HDMI cable, or powered HDMI extender.

What brand and model 50' cable did you try? Which passive HDMI extender over cat6 x 2?

First port of call is always the RJ45 terminations - are they DIY or pre-made cables, if DIY try redoing them.

As you have a projector in the remote location can we assume you are running to an AVR first?

What is your full connectivity plan?
