Hi,

I reciently sold a hvps from an ampro 4300 to a guy. The unit had worked flawlessly for me for 9+ months before I took the the tubes from the 4300 for another project of mine. His 4300 seemed to have a whole bunch of problems, but he just wanted the hvps. He emailed me and said that after only 10 minutes of running, the T2 flyback converter broke into three pieces and smells burned. Any thoughts on what caused this problem?

Thanks

God bless....

THe core probably got cracked in shipping. Tell him to take the one out of his old HVPS and transplant it. Chances are he'll be fine.

I've had some good success repairing those HVPS's lately, if he's stuck tell him to send me both. I also probably have a spare or two here.
