Scuttlebutt that Apple will offer repurposed television shows for 99 cents concurrent with the spring launch of the iPad grew after CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves said he wasn't opposed to the idea.

CBS, which owns online content aggregator TV.com, has for some time sold network programming on iTunes for $1.99 per episode.

Speaking to investors in a Feb. 18 conference call, Moonves said repurposing CBS content online via ad-supported sites and so-called TV Everywhere platforms remained short-term deals that thus far looked promising.

There are certain shows that will be sold on Apple for 99 cents and we will talk to them about it, Moonves said.

The executive said he was pleased TV ratings across all demographics were up at the same that online ad-revenue from repurposed transmissions was increasing.

It all looks good for the future, he said.
