I went to CC to look at plasmas and was talking to the sales person about the sale last week and how I missed out on it. He said no problem, he could do last weeks price. He talked to his sales manager and I ordered the ED at last weeks price with free shipping. They would have given me the HD but they do not have any and the deal was done to move out stock.

So if you are interested in a Panny, go to your local CC and see what they have in stock to make deals. I bet you could get an even better price than last week.

I would have gone to the vendors here but the 2 I contacted did not have the consumer version and that is the one I need.

Magnolia is matching, and they have a $250 off purchases from $3001->$5000.

Hence you can get it for $250 less than CC at Magnolia.

it is always an advantage to buy from a B&M if you can get close to the online prices. unfortunately, all the B&M guys in SF Bay area seem to be out of 42PX20U units now. so, i am back to looking for the best deal (price and buying comfort).

I agree but I have never seen a BB or CC come close to a reasonable price on a name brand plasma. I cant believe it when I see $3k - $5k difference in price from what I can get it on line for.

I have not looked in a long time... maybe the prices of plasmas are finally coming down!

1. Local Sales Tax helps my state and my community, not CA's, NY's, whomever. (Exhorbitant shipping $ usually evens it out, anyway).

2. The higher price--if any--is worth it to me, to have face-time and vocal recourse, right here, right now, in-your-face, let's deal with it. (IOW, no more midnight struggles to decipher unintelligible CSR replies from Bangalore.)*

3. No e-mail, no snail-mail, no chat. If that [email protected]#$%up 42Plasma needs packing up and shipping, Buddy that's your job and $$$, not mine....

4. Easy return policy--again worth the price.

FWIW,

AMc

*I am not making this up....

I love buying online and do most of my shopping online. HOwever, for an expensive and highly technical electronic item, I feel more comfortable buying from a place I can get in thier face infront of customers if something goes wrong.

I currently have the Akai from Costco. I just ordered the panny 42" ED from CC. I will do a side by side comparison for 30 days. If the panny does not do handstands BETTER than the Akai, the Panny goes back. If I find I love the panny so much better than the Akai, then I will either return the Akai or move it to the bedroom. It depends on if the Panny really makes the Akai look so bad that I can not live with it.

I really think my Akai has a REALLY GOOD PICTURE and have been very happy with it, but with the great CC price adn return policy, it is now time for me to test the panny at home.

IMO, you can start packing up that Akai now. ;)

Ugh.

I went to the CC in manhattan (on 14th st. & 4th ave)

I asked about the 50" and they didn't have any in stock after checking in their computer. They said I could special order it. But... they are charging the FULL MSRP for it!

For what it was worth I asked about the 42" which they DID have in stock, but also not on sale.

Apparently they didn't have any sale recently either as I asked them about that, too.

I went to the CC in Paramusm NJ and they told me the same thing...no sale for the 50" (didn't ask about the 42")

6thave.com has it a pretty good price though...wonder if CC would match them + the 10%

Can't decide between the /20 /25 and the commercial myself.

Looks like the commercial prices are about to go south of 5k
