I'm seriously considering the RP91 for progressive DVD playback, but how does it handle normal CDs, especially compared to the RP56 and the Pioneer DV-37? I'd love it if i could count on this one box for CD and DVD playback.

I don't care so much about DVD-audio playback, I'm mostly asking about regular CDs.

Thanks

I own both DV-37 and RP91. Video-wise, RP91 beats DV-37 hands down.

However, DV-37 beats RP91 handily in audio department. DV-37 sounds rich, dynamic and detailed while RP91 sounds sterile, business-like and its sound stage is not as wide as that of DV-37. All in all, RP91 is quite acceptable in sound, just don't expect audiophile quality CD sound.

Hope this helps.
