Considering the economy, this is going to be a huge year with a real LED projector finally coming out. No more bulbs is a big deal and is going to revolutionize the industry and return us to better than CRT light source life once again. The only thing left is contrast boosting panels used with LED can give in the millions to one sequential (FOFO) contrast. Then again, we also need faster refresh rates for no ghosting. Other than that, we're almost there to the perfect display! I'll never again own a direct view set. So this year is heralding me closer than any previous year for getting rid of my CRT projector. I'd hardly call that a "slow year," now would you?

What is strange is that looking at the CEDIA planner, there looks to be more space allocated for vendors in Atlanta vs. Denver.

I believe there will be more in attendance due to cheaper flights. I for one will be staying longer as I can get a direct flight while having a lot of choices on flight times.

Hopefully we'll see something worthwhile instead of me too products.

I think both exhibitor attendance as well as dealer attendence will be down...nature of the economy. But, I think those that are there will have some cool stuff to show so stil worthwhile going.

If I am wrong though I am going to be pissed that I wasted my time.

I said this in the other thread were getgray mentioned booking his hotel six months ahead of time. Atlanta (at least ten years ago) had the fourth most hotel rooms in the US. At that time, they had 75k rooms. I assume they have more now. Cedia is what 20k to 30k people and not everyone of those will be getting a hotel not to mention those doubling up.

Jim,

Is Cedia using the same amount of floor space as in Denver? The GWCC is over twice as large as Denver's convention center, so there is plenty of space to spread out.

It is multiple floors in Atlanta. It looks like more vendors are participating as well. Normally in Denver I could find the vendors easily on the map. This year there are some that are spread out on multiple floors.

I like multiple floors as they serve to "segment" the real estate as I try to cover it all. Mebbe this time, I will succeed.

I like how you think.
I prefer to start on one end of a show and walk down each and every aisle till I hit the other end. Since most conventions are grid like, I can go up and down and side to side to make sure I see everything. After which I can go back to any booths that I think need a second look. Using this method, I have found info that I would have never found just running around like a headless chicken.

Well, I use that method, by default if everything is on one floor, but I am easily distracted (or extracted) from my search pattern and, sometimes, have trouble picking up the scent in subsequent days. I find it satisfying to "check off" a floor/segment as DONE except, of course, for 2nd looks at the really fascinating stuff.

Not me Steve B. Though I did multiple dinners with the Bland and others, I did not not go to any clubs with them, by myself, or with others. I just don`t do strip clubs. This is a good thing for the Bland and others because it gives them a better chance of scoring. i am notfast enough to out run a stripper chasing me and screaming ~The cute one, he`s mine.~ My wife has already got me for better and now for mostly worse. Like you, I`m whipped.

I beg to differ...I am 99% sure I saw you in a club accepting dollar bills.
Kidding Mark...
