The "black" screen you are speaking of is made by Vutec. It is supposed to be very nice. I myself am going to be looking for the Seleco, Dwin, Sharp, and Plus Piano projectors. These are all supposed to be the newest technology. Make sure that you all visit David and I at the AVS meet and greet times. We'll have some giveaways too! http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks!

Greg,

Thanks for the welcome. I too will be looking at DLP, as my only projector experience (about 7 years) is with CRT and LCD. I've yet to see a DLP, but really interested in the Sharp 9000. Do you own a DLP? If so, what model. Where can I see an NEC LT150 in Indy?

Someone mention Vutec screens? My second screen was a Vutec, and I didn't have alot of expectations since I purchased this sight unseen, as well as coming off the Stewart kick (first screen). Man, was I surprised. They really put a quality product together with great value!

It was a VuEasy fixed wall screen that had beautiful mitered corners, perfect fit material w/ super tight velcro, and a very uniform picture. I had it ordered in Bright White (1.5 gain)with the optional velvet on the frame.

Well enough of that, it must be late because I'm starting to ramble.

Looking forward to meeting some of the AVS members at the show!

Would you guys please see if the Sharp 9000 has the noise with panning that Li On noticed in the LT150 and says hall 1-chip DLP's have.

Thanks

Li On,

I thought the Toshiba was an LCD. Sharp has a 6-month headstart over evryone else on the 1280x720 DLP's.

The Toshiba looked terrible at Infocomm but I believe they were feeding it composite signal. Hello?

I'm also looking forward to seeing the Hitachi. Hope they'll be there.

And finally I'm looking forward to seeing if Tommyboy really does look like Don Knotts.

Hi Noah,

Oh you're right, the Toshiba is a LCD! I need to doublecheck the friend's comment. Maybe I'll try to have a demo myself as the projector is on sale now.

So we now have LCD 720p vs DLP 720p. Interesting. Maybe current LCD projector also improved much like the LT150? The price of the MT7 should be under $5000. Is 720p DLP also at similiar price?

regards,

Does anyone know if the Hitachi uses JVC DILA panels? Also, when might it be availble?

From looking at the Cedia web site, it looks like Infocus won't be attending, which is too bad. I was hoping that they might have a new HT FP announcement.

If anyone who goes sees Infocus hiding in a corner or something, please hit them up for info about future HT projs. Specifically ask if they will be releasing a native HDTV 16x9 DLP (HD1) projector.

It seems they are developing their own LCOS panel. Try searching for Hitachi and LCOS on the web. This is from http://www.mdreport.com/summaries/july_2001.html:

"Hitachi, Ltd. has finally publically revealed the fruits of its secretive efforts to develop a LCOS panel. At INFOCOMM, the company showcased a new front-projection system with 1365 x 1024 pixels of resolution and 1500 lumens, which will ship in Q3’01 for $8,999 MSRP. Powering the system is a trio of 0.9-inch LCOS panels. Hitachi’s entry into the LCOS segment is a key milestone that is likely to open more than a few eyes, especially in Japan."

Here's some more recent info on the internals of CP-SX5500W: http://content.analog.com/pressrelea...22,383,00.html

matt - i have a compaq mp2800. for some reason noone else seems to use this pj. i think the image is great and i cannot make myself see a rainbow no matter how hard i try. noone else who visits can see one either. with the new firmware from compaq it is a great image. accepts 1080i, 720p and 480p. not sure where to see an nec unless markeys has one you could see or rent.

jonmx - go hoosiers! i spent 6 years in bloomington. went to school and managed and later was projectionist at the drive-in theater that used to be on the north end of town. now THAT was some light output. 4500w xenon lamp on a 100 foot diagonal screen. great image except when the fog rolled in from the golf course next door. best job i ever had http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
