Hello All

I am new to the forum so I hope I am in the right section for this question.

I am installing my surround sound next weekend and I wanted to do a little research since i am a "do it yourself" kind of person....My living room is where my ceiling speakers will be going and it is directly under my master bedroom...

1st- I believe my rafters are running opposite the direction my speaker wire is running so my thought is I have to cut DW and drill through each rafter...does that sound right?

2nd...Is this the normal process or am I missing alot of other options?

Are there any other post about this that I missed?

Thanks for you help.

Hi Joe-

1st- Depending on when and how the house was built, there should be strapping that runs perpendicular to the joists, which would be in your favor.

2nd- Another option is to run your wires along the ceiling where it meets the top of the wall and then add crown moulding to hide the wire. From that point, you would be fishing your wires a shorter distance depending on your layout.

Good luck.
