So I'm the new house/Ht are in the sheetrock stage. I'm having the walls finished smooth although they'll be covered with duct board and GOM. I was going to have the ceiling textured or stomped as it's called around here. I'm also going with a night sky mural kit, not sure if that matters.

Anyway are there any reasons to do one vs the other, stomped vs smooth? I just want to make sure I don't make any mistakes I'll regret later.

I hate ceilings/walls with a texture or pattern. If you have to make a repair it is difficult for the average guy to get it to match, I'm average.

You should ask over in the star ceiling thread about textured ceilings my gut tells me maybe not a good idea.

i HATE our popcorn ceiling! such a pain to paint it, and when i had to make repairs it's always easy to tell where they are.

that being said, it does appear 'less shiny' compared to the same matte black paint on the side walls, so maybe that's a plus...

still, i would NEVER do a textured ceiling again.
