I'm in the process of putting one up this week actually. The main runners are attached right into whatever flat surface you have (be it joists or anything else..) In terms of how much additional height it takes up over just plain drywalling the ceiling.. I would say very very little. (less than 1/3" of drop and that is pushing it..)
The frost panels are 7/8" thick.. I will post some pics in a few days after the whole thing is finished..
You can use the "Frost" panels in the CeilingMax track? On the USG website it said that you needed to leave 3" of space between the ceiling and the floor joists to fit the panels in. Is this accurate?
