Hey guys,

I bought Omnimount Axis VT TV stand which has tampered glass doors. Due to my limitation on space in the nook I have in my new place, best solution would be to have my Polk Audio CS2 center speaker in the TV stand. My question is, if I have center speaker in the stand, would I have to remove the glass door from that side of the stand or is it ok to leave the glass door on?

Please let me know, thanks

Everything is a compromize. You could leave the glass doors on but you would have to open them anytime you listened to anything. It will most likely sound better without the doors and would most likely sound better not in the cabinet.

If you or your SO like it in the cabinet and with the doors it will work.

Yea, I realize it's a compromise, but I was wondering how would it sound if the door was even closed. I'm a bachelor so I'm only one that will be ultimately deciding

I agree.. it is pretty obvious, but I was still wondering in hope that it would be ok.. I'd hate to be opening door all the time and leaving the glass door off would look ugly..

Agreed. Horrible sound comes to mind

It also might not sound that great if the door doesn't open completely. By that I mean, if the door only opens perpendicular to the TV stand at a 90 degree angle, you will get reflections from the speaker off the door.

@ninor... get used to it looking ugly.... your best option is not to put it in the cabinet... your 2nd best option (and it's a far cry from the first option) is to remove the door....

@cel... yup... and it's pretty rare that doors open that faron cabinets, but his may be different...

Agree with Chris. The sound would die inside that enclosure. I've got somewhat the same type of issue, glass doors, big center. I elevated the TV and set the center loud and proud out center (
) on top of the enclosure. .

I wouldn't even put a sub behind glass doors, and that's probably got a better chance to be heard.

only way to fly...
give that baby room to breathe...

although you just gave me a potential youtube idea.... it'd be cool to stuff my subm's in an entertainment center and then pop in a "good bass demo scene"... the entertainment center wouldn't last long...

edit: where you been mate? long time no post...

That would be terrifying.

Reminds me of a friend who modded a station wagon with a V12. Could only go fast straight, but surprised a few road racers.

It does only open perpendicular to the TV stand so no go then..

Well, I have a 52" TV currently and the new townhouse that I bought has a TV nook and that TV + stand just BARELY fit in there height wise and there's only about few inches left on the sides... so my only solution would be to put a shelf above the nook. I'll check if there are any studs in that wall (I doubt there are).

Around a bit, Chris - mostly posting in the speakers area, since I've been most actively upgrading there. I do have to update the speaker porn pictures, since I am at 7.2 now.
