Imagine a room (picture attached)

[[ Crappy image removed

Originally I had speakers placed to the sides of the screen

and one center floating on the floor in the middle of my patio doors, which I'm

not too thrilled about. I'm open to flipping the room around, but

there's another door for the furnace/utility room there, so it would

be the same problem.

So after reading much here, it would appear that my best be is to go

in/on ceiling (I'm looking at Triad and Powerpoint leaning to the

Bronze/8 for price reasons, but my main concern isn't about speaker

brand but about placement). My main question revolves around putting

a regular monitor on ceiling -- I assume it's pretty much the same as

if I were to have it a stand on the floor , if I had some sturdy hanging mount going

into a stud, and I won't be sonically screwing anything up (too much). Assuming looks

aren't the overlying factor (I don't need them to be necessarily inconspicuous,

flat, etc) I was wondering if I could basically hang any center I wanted from the

ceiling (although it would necessarily be about 2" from it, due to height of room)?

The back of the monitor would be pointing at the screen and it's case.

I've also pondered rotating the room 12' and getting a short throw projector

but it just seems to scrunched.

Final question -- no matter what option I go with, is this just a problem for the

center, and I could get regular speakers for the L/R and not necessarily have

them in/on/hanging on wall, but instead put them at ear level -- or is that going

to throw off the soundstage?

Wow, I'm having a really, really hard time imaging that...

You may want to edit your post to show a better ASCII diagram...

Ok, I changed the original post to have a better picture attachment. So much for my crappy ascii skills.

There ya go.. :)

Typically the best placement for a center is above the screen, so I'd go with either a mount to the header above the patio door, or make some kind of an angled (downward) shelf with the center on it.
