change mce 2k5 key shortcuts?

234 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Derek K.
Is there any way in mce 2005 to change the keyboard shortcuts? I would like to be able to do this without girder.

For example, play is ctrl-shift-p. I would like to change this to a single key, like p, so that I can use my lite-on ir keyboard to teach my mx-500. I don't have the mce remote, so I can't use that to teach the mx-500, and the mx-500 can't learn ctrl-shift-p. :-(

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Derek

The MX-500 can indeed learn Ctrl-Shift-P. You just have to hit them all and let them go very quickly.

The only trouble I have is that some keys (particularly, Backspace) sometimes "misfire" and either mute the audio (argh) or enable F-lock (argh, argh!)

I haven't found a way to remap them, other than using Girder
I guess I didn't try to learn the commands enough times. I'll give it a shot again tonight.

However I did find a partial solution to my problem. The lite-on ir keyboard I have has the transport buttons on it and they can control mce. So, I just taught the mx-500 those buttons. It is missing the ffw and rew buttons, so I'll try to learn those. The only remaining keys I need are the live tv, recorded shows, etc. buttons on the mce remote.

I have seen the "misfire" a few times using a different learning remote, but not with the mx-500. Have you tried relearning those keys again.

Success! I was able to teach the ctrl-shift-whatever commands to the mx-500 by quickly pressing all three keys! Very cool!

Now the only missing key is the more info key on the mce remotes. Does anyone know the keyboard command for this? I can't finid it on microsoft's website.
