Changing Screen fabric on a Da-Lite tab tensioned screen

1335 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Craig Peer
I recently purchased the Epson 5040UB projector. I am using a Da-lite High Contrast Cinema Vision (HCCV) tab tensioned screen, a gray screen rated at 1.1 gain with the 5040UB projector. From the start just using the default settings, I noticed some sparkle on the picture.

Is there anyway to replace the screen fabric on a Da-Lite tab tensioned screen to another fabric material from Da-Lite?

I would reach out to Da-lite and see what they can do for you, given your situation.

Sell that screen and buy a new one. The HCCV material was one of my least favorite materials. I made my room less reflective and replaced it with a Stewart Cima Neve screen. I'm not sure how easy it is to replace the material in that electric screen, but it's a lot harder than changing a fixed screen's material.

I have been doing a lot of research over the last couple of days and have decided to bit the bullet and get a Stewart tab tensioned 110" projector screen. I'm hoping this will be my final screen and will be future proof as well.

The screen material choice is what I am struggling with right now. I have narrowed the choices to:

ST130 screen
ST100 screen
Cima Neve screen

Any recommendation on what screen material will work well with an Epson 5040UB projector? The room gets completely dark at night; however, during the day there is some daylight.

Get samples and study them for a day or two ( or a week ). Email or PM me if you want some. Take your time - so you are happy and this is your last screen. I have both a StudioTek 130 and a Cima Neve screen. They are very close. You can suspend them in front of your existing screen and compare. :)
